A town inside Banff National Park in the Canadian Rockies, so park rules shape the trip: everyone needs a park pass, and limited accommodation inside the boundary means nearby Canmore is a common fallback. Calgary is the closest airport, roughly an hour and a half away by road, with buses and shuttles on the route. Summer and ski season are both busy. Moraine Lake is reached by shuttle or bus rather than private car.
