An archipelago off Malaysia's northwest coast, reached by a short flight or by ferry from Penang, Kuala Perlis or Kuala Kedah. Langkawi is duty free, which is unusual for Malaysia. The main island is large enough to need a rental car, scooter or taxis, and most beach accommodation clusters around Cenang and the north. Driest and calmest from December to March, wettest around August to October.
