About Washington D.C.

The American capital has an unusual cost shape for a trip: the Smithsonian museums and the memorials along the National Mall are free to enter, so lodging and food carry most of the budget. The center is walkable and the Metro handles the rest. Three airports serve it, Reagan National, Dulles and Baltimore/Washington. Cherry blossom season in late March and early April is the busiest, and summers are humid.
