Meditation & Yoga Retreats in Bali

Meditation & Yoga Retreats in Bali means a structured period focused on daily yoga and meditation classes, often with massage and plant-based meals, at a centre in Ubud, Canggu or Sanur, with accommodation usually booked separately.

Wellness is not medical treatment. Every fact below is quoted from an official tourism, government or credential body, or from a provider's own published page, with the date we checked it (13 Sep 2026). Prices are published examples, not partner inventory and not a market average.

1.What meditation & yoga in Bali is

Bali's yoga and meditation offer, as Indonesia's Ministry of Tourism presents it, is centre-based: large studios in Ubud and Canggu run daily class schedules, day and multi-day packages, detox programmes and teacher trainings. Unlike an ashram stay in India or an all-inclusive package in Thailand, most published Bali packages price the classes, meals and treatments and leave accommodation to you, so the journey block adds a stay line unless the package says it includes one.

2.Who it may suit

People who prefer choosing their own classes from a schedule and their own accommodation, mixing practice with the rest of a trip; first-time and experienced practitioners, since the featured centres run beginner and advanced classes; and anyone who wants plant-based food, which the featured centres serve. A detox programme is a lifestyle choice, not treatment: anyone with a condition or on medication should talk to a doctor and to the centre first.

  • According to Wonderful Indonesia (Ministry of Tourism, Republic of Indonesia): The portal also features Samadi Bali in Canggu, welcoming beginners and experienced practitioners with a specialisation in Ashtanga yoga.

4.Why Bali

Indonesia's national tourism portal leads its Bali page with yoga in Ubud, and its yoga article names specific centres and their class volumes, which is why the examples here are from those centres. The dry season runs April to October, and Bali's airport at Ngurah Rai (Denpasar) has its own immigration office publishing the entry categories.

7.Visa and entry

We have not yet checked Indonesia's tourist entry rules against the official pages. Whether you enter visa-free, with a visa on arrival or with a visit visa, and what it costs, depends on your passport: confirm on the official portal before booking.

Indonesia e-Visa and e-VOA (Directorate General of Immigration)

Travelling for treatment of a condition is a different visa question: medical visas by passport.

8.Food and dietary options

The featured centres serve organic vegan and vegetarian food and include some meals or juices in their packages. We hold no official tourism source on Balinese cuisine for this page and no sourced meal prices, so food outside the programme is estimated from the destination's daily figure and labelled ESTIMATED.

9.Weather and best time

Seasons as Indonesia's tourism portal describes them for Java and Bali. We hold no official month-by-month rainfall table for Bali (the portal itself says the seasons have become less predictable), so no monthly figures are shown.

  • According to Wonderful Indonesia (Ministry of Tourism, Republic of Indonesia): Indonesia's tourism portal says Bali's dry season is April to October and the wet season November to March, that temperatures vary little through the year (coastal plains averaging 28 degrees C), and that the seasons have become less predictable.

10.Airport and local transport

Bali's international airport is Ngurah Rai (Denpasar, DPS); the immigration office at the airport publishes the entry categories quoted in the visa block. Neither featured provider publishes transfer prices, and we hold none, so local transport is estimated and labelled ESTIMATED.

11.How to evaluate a provider

Being featured by a tourism ministry is promotion, not accreditation. A Yoga Alliance claim is checked in the Yoga Alliance directory, and a business licence is the province's. Then read what the package includes, because most Bali packages do not include a bed.

  • According to Wonderful Indonesia (Ministry of Tourism, Republic of Indonesia): The portal says Gokul Yoga Bali holds RY200 and RYS300 certificates from Yoga Alliance. That is the tourism page's statement; we could not open the school's site on the check date, and a Yoga Alliance status is checked in its own directory, never taken from a tourism page.
Source text, Best Place to Experience the Healing Power of Yoga in Bali, checked 13 Sep 2026
  • Is the centre the one named by the Ministry of Tourism, at the address given there?
  • If it claims Yoga Alliance registration, does it appear in the Yoga Alliance directory today, and under which credential (RYS 200, 300, 500)?
  • Does the package include accommodation? If not, what does a night nearby cost, and is the centre walkable?
  • Which meals are included, and are dietary needs catered for?
  • For a detox programme: who consults, what is their training, and what happens if you need to stop?
  • What are the booking lead time and cancellation terms (one provider asks for four days' notice to arrange a package)?

12.Accreditation and certification: what each credential means

Yoga Alliance's school credentials (RYS 200, RYS 300, RYS 500) are the ones Bali schools most often cite. Yoga Alliance is a private, US-based nonprofit registry: it publishes curriculum hours and an ethical commitment, charges schools an application fee and an annual fee, and relies on trainee reviews. It is not a government licence and says nothing about a retreat's safety. TravelVulture has no verification of its own for wellness providers.

  • According to Yoga Alliance: Yoga Alliance's school credentials are RYS 200, RYS 300 and RYS 500 (foundational 200-hour, advanced 300-hour and comprehensive 500-hour teacher training), plus RCYS for children's yoga and RPYS for prenatal yoga.
