Goa is a small state on the Arabian Sea rather than a single town, so the base you pick shapes the trip: the north around Calangute, Baga and Anjuna is busier, the south around Palolem and Agonda quieter, while Panaji and Old Goa hold the Portuguese era churches. A rented scooter is the normal way to move between beaches. Season runs November to February; the monsoon closes many beach shacks.
