Thailand medical visa: rules, documents and fees by passport
From Thailand's official government pages, checked 10 Sep 2026. We checked 20 passports: 20 have a verified route. Where a fee is shown it is the government's own figure in the currency it publishes.
What holds for every passport
- •Apply online on the official Thai e-Visa site, through the Thai embassy or consulate that serves your country of residence.
- •Your hospital in Thailand writes the letter the application needs, giving the purpose and length of the treatment.
- •Every traveller completes the TDAC arrival card within 3 days before arriving. It is free, and it is not a visa.
- •Thailand's visa exemption and visa on arrival are for tourism only. New lists for both apply from 15 September 2026.
Our guidance, not an official rule: We do not suggest entering visa-exempt as a tourist for planned treatment: the exemption is for tourism, and the medical visas exist for treatment.
Route, fee and companions by passport
The route a patient uses for treatment, the government fee as the source states it (“Free” where the source publishes no charge), how many people can travel on companion visas, and whether the application is online. Where a fee is “not published”, the reason follows.
Why no government fee is shown: Each Thai embassy or consulate sets its own fee, in its own currency, and you apply through the one that serves your country of residence.
