About Cancun
Cancun sits on the Caribbean coast of Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula and is really two places. The Hotel Zone is a narrow sandbar of beachfront resorts; downtown, a short bus ride inland, is where most residents live and where food and transport cost noticeably less. All-inclusive packages are common on the sandbar and absorb meals and drinks into a single figure, which changes the shape of a trip budget rather than only its size. Chichen Itza lies inland and Tulum down the coast, both usually done as day trips. The dry season runs December to April, and September and October are the wettest months.
